July 2021
Have you ever been around a proud parent? They will talk non-stop about how amazing their children are. You definitely do not want to get me started talking about my kids or I’ll talk your ear off. I will gush as I tell you every detail about what I love about each of my children. My face always lights up in delight when I get to talk about my kids. Have you ever seen the eyes of a woman as she looks at the man of her dreams or watched a man deeply in love with his bride, looking at her as though he could eat her up? I often notice the love and devotion in people’s eyes as they think of someone they love or admire. Maybe you have been on the receiving end of someone looking at you with that same love and devotion in their eyes and know how it feels as their love pierces through your heart. That is the same look and devotion you will see in the eyes of someone who is madly in love with Jesus and sold out to make His name known in the earth.
When a person catches the massive revelation of the Great Commission, it becomes a highly addictive substance which is a call from Heaven, a love for God that overflows to others, and a promise that God will complete what He started to bring glory to His name. I have watched first hand as people get overtaken with a passion and longing for the Lord and to see His will fulfilled in the earth. Once they get whacked, they can’t go back. It’s like a branding iron marking them for the rest of their lives. It’s a lovesick drive like no other and nothing will satisfy until those who accept the call align and walk in the commission God has assigned them to do––they become addicted to Jesus.

MISSIONS: A HIGHLY ADDICTIVE SUBSTANCE
God has called each of us to fulfill the Great Commission––preaching the gospel to the world. Our first job is to love the Lord our God with all our heart, soul, and mind, and fall madly in love with Him as spoken of in Matthew 22:36-40, “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two.” We should be so intoxicated by the love of Jesus that we can’t help but fulfill the Great Commission. Our second highest calling is to love others and that job entails being sent out into all the world to preach the gospel. Mark 16:15 states, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.” As we have a willful fixation on God’s purpose in history, it becomes a voluntary obsession. As we make Jesus our obsession and addiction, then we can love others. How can we tell someone about a Man we don’t know? We must get to know Jesus so we can tell others about Him. Even though the Great Commission is not a request, but a command, a person addicted to Jesus will automatically set their heart and mind on Christ and His global mission. The Millennial Manifesto said, “Yesterday’s harvest fields have become today’s great harvest forces.” Carlos Annacondia said, “The time to preach the gospel to every creature is here! And you have been entrusted with the task.” We have only begun to see a glimpse of what is coming––the world falling in love with Jesus Christ, our Groom.
Merriam-Webster dictionary says that a missionary is, “A person undertaking a mission and especially a religious mission.” An addict is, “One exhibiting a compulsive, chronic, physiological or psychological need for a habit-forming substance, behavior, or activity.” Matthew 28:18-20 clearly outlines His will for us to be addicted to missions by saying, “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” The area of loving others through local and world missions is a highly addictive substance––a call and commission from Heaven. God’s heart is for everyone, all nations, tribes, and tongues to know Him. Revelations 7:9 tells us that, “After this I looked, and behold, a great multitude that no one could number, from every nation, from all tribes and peoples and languages, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed in white robes, with palm branches in their hands.” God’s heart is for everyone to spend eternity together, praising His name in one accord. Therefore, we will never know or walk in our personal destiny if we have so little identification with God’s heart and destiny for the world.
Christ followers who are madly in love with the Lord and that seek to know more of His heart can’t help but tell others about the One they adore. Simply put, mission addicts are a force of hidden heroes that are lovesick followers of Christ and have a deep desire to explain to others how amazing, wonderful, and beautiful their Bridegroom is. This addiction for everyone to know Him is the aftermath of their personal addiction, devotion, and intoxicating passion for Jesus.
The greek verb “tasso” is translated in the King James Version as “addicted” and carries the same idea of being set apart or appointed. It can also mean “to order, determine or appoint.” It is the addiction to tell others about Jesus that appoints and propels us into our rightful place in history—toward our kingdom destiny through surrender and obedience to the Word of God; spreading the good news to all the world.
An addiction to missions should not be confused with unrighteous addictions of this world. While worldly addicts use harmful substances to numb realities by their lack of discipline, a mission addict dials in their focus to follow the call of God and not the world. By their love, others are drawn to the heart of God. David Shibley says that, “Once the ‘world Christian serum’ hits your bloodstream, you have been injected with a powerful substance––the missions addiction.” He forewarns that once it hits, it’s too late—you’ll never be the same again. He says that, “Mission addicts are not satisfied with being an addict themselves, they are out to hook a whole generation.” When the call and commission from Heaven hits, it changes not just one life, but a whole generation—making it one of the most intoxicating and powerful substances a Christian can possess. There is no high like being high on Jesus! It is the intoxicating power of the Holy Spirit which compels a person to fulfill their true calling by obeying the Great Commission throughout the whole earth. The substance of God’s glory oozes out of the missions addicts and is what draws others to them. It is what flows through them enabling them to see generations follow after the heart of God.
EVANGELISM: OVERFLOWING LOVE
As the ones addicted to Jesus become joyfully obsessed with the hope of seeing God worshipped in every area of the world and by all people, God’s Spirit moves powerfully. Evangelism into all the world should always be the overflow from our personal relationship and love for God that splashes onto others. People should look at our lives, see Jesus in us, and want what we have. David Shibley bluntly asks, “Is your heart still wrapped around ‘lesser’ things? When is it going to end? When will your priorities line up with God’s?” A missionary, in all forms, is plain and simple: a person's passion for Jesus, to know Him more, and chase after His heart in obedience. David Shibley said that, “Those who awaken to God’s priorities will feel a divine sense of destiny and that they have been appointed by God to extend His glory.” He further states that unlike harmful substances, these addicts are laser focused and empowered by the Holy Spirit to become Kingdom agents to transform the lives of individuals, cultures, and even entire nations. We can not change the world unless we have an unwavering, enriched, and growing love relationship with the Lord. The draw to local and worldwide missions is the overflow of our love, adoration, and devotion to Jesus Christ.
A love addiction to see the name of Jesus famous in all the earth can be private as well as public. Some may have a heart for missions but quietly stay hidden behind the scenes, while others have more of a public platform. Either way, it is time to follow the desire of God’s heart for the world and rise for such a time as this. Esther 4:14, “You have come to the kingdom for such a time as this.”
Although most associate evangelism of God’s kingdom with a more public scene, much can be done in private as well. They are equally as important! We must remember that a lot can be accomplished for the glory of God in the unseen––closet world changers as they intercede for evangelization of the world. Through their devotion and worship, they move the heart of God. Their addiction is hidden between Jesus and them. These world changers may seem small to some, but they are shaking nations in the secret place, tucked away with the Lord. They go into their closet each day, fall more madly in love with Jesus, and come out changed. They see global change through their action of devotion to the Lord and through the cry of their heart in intercession of stillness before Him. These addicts know to stay hidden as long as they can because they understand that just as much can be accomplished from their closet as it can be from on a stage. You will not normally find these closet addicts on a stage unless the Lord commands them to do so. They typically will only obey the One they love and not do things for attention. They feel the heart cry of God for the nations as they tap into His presence in the secret. The Lord infuses them with His desire which causes them to be addicted, not only to His presence and voice, but to His heart for the world. They see the Great Commission as an action to seek His face through prayer and adoration. While others are called to be more vocal in evangelism, the closet world changers tend to be more quiet. Both touch the world for Christ in a different way.
Those with a more public call to evangelism must understand that their highest goal is to love Jesus and spend time with Him before all other things––including ministry. Jesus predicted in Matthew 13 about the wheat and the tares. He explains how they would grow alongside each other which was a sign of both deception and harvest. What separates the weeds from the harvest is their love and devotion to the Lord. As we reach the end of time, we know based on Matthew 24:14 that, “And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world as a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come.” Many preaching the gospel may be deceived as even their well meaning missions addictions have the potential to turn worldly instead of Heavenward. Those who remain fixed on Jesus will remain strong. Jim Reapsome reminds us, “The titans of missionary service are those who know God so intimately that regardless of changes, they do not surrender. They are like the wise man who built his house on the rock––and that rock is Jesus.” Hence why we must set our focus and foundation on the Word of God and follow Him. Matthew 7:24-25 says, “Therefore everyone who hears these words of Mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock.” We can only be a servant of God and reach the lost to the depth in which we love, surrender to, and obey Him. If we want to change the world, we have to first let Him consume and change us––the transforming power of the gospel.
GOD WILL COMPLETE WHAT HE STARTED
God’s unwavering truth and promise is that He will complete what He started. Therefore, there is a great harvest of souls to be reached to complete His will on the earth. We are living in the end of days and must remember that the harvest will not reap itself. Galatians 6:9, “And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap a great harvest, if we do not give up.” It is time for anointed laborers to be discipled to ripen fields––and quickly. Just like Matthew 9:37 says, “The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few.” The harvest is ready, but the workers are not. Christians face challenges in the world today making evangelism that much harder and that much more important. God’s Kingdom is unshakable, His church is unstoppable, and this is God’s hour to display His reconciled and reconciling church as we join together in unity––the five-fold ministries working in one accord.
No matter what we shall face in the future, we must make a commitment that we will never stop sharing the love of Jesus with others even in the face of great tests, trials, and even death. Paul burned for Christ’s honor. Paul was a powerful force, completely convinced that his message would transform the lives of the listeners. Like Paul, our love and obedience to Jesus Christ has to be the driving force of all we do––the greatest addiction we have. Paul said in Romans 1:16, “For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes.” Paul wasn’t just out to preach the gospel, but saw prophetically into the future the effects the gospel would have on the whole world and craved to see it manifested in the earth. It was his driving passion even unto death.
God's mission implanted into our spirits will cause a deep hunger in our hearts to obey at all costs. Those radically infused will not be able to shut it off. It will cause them to have to choose: to be in hot pursuit of Him or have nothing, spread His good news or death. Paul knew that we must choose to be all in or get out. Revelation 3:15-17 explains, “You are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either one or the other! So, because you are lukewarm—neither hot nor cold—I am about to spit you out of My mouth.” Therefore we must fix our eyes on Jesus and not back down or retreat no matter what happens. Those who have a love of worldly things cannot have love for the world, but those who have a love for Jesus Christ will have an eternal love for the world. You can’t love things of this world and be a world changer. As we focus on being a world changer for Christ, we must not look for any personal worldly fame or gain––only His. Once we grasp the Great Commission in it’s full understanding, the only way to get world changers to stop talking about Jesus will be to kill them. Even in death, Christians will spend all their days with the One they love. Lovesick mission addicts don’t care about anything or anyone other than making Jesus famous. They know death has no sting, but understand that to die is the greatest of all things that could ever happen to them. 1 Corinthians 15:55-57 says, “O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory? The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.” Death for a Jesus freak is the greatest prize of all.
Romans 8:38-39 explains how, “Nothing can ever separate us from God’s love.” Since nothing can separate us from the Love of God, we need to step out and evangelise to the people around us and throughout the whole world. Although some may have tried and failed or felt uncomfortable to tell others about Jesus in the past, it’s time to try again. Many may have felt the call to missions in the past, but turned away. Some may have seen it as an impossible task to accomplish leaving that deep draw to missions and outreach dormant. We must repent for not following the nudging of the Holy Spirit, heal from any brokenness that would hinder us, and walk in the will of God for the earth by spreading His good news. It is time to refocus our focus from our desires and purpose to God’s, off our own needs and onto the needs of others.
God promised Abraham in Genesis 15:5 that He would make his descendants as numerous as the stars. “Look now toward the heavens and count the stars—if you are able to count them.” Then He said to him, “So [numerous] shall your descendants be.” God had Abraham shift his gaze from his current situation to the stars, signifying the covenant promise that many would come to know and follow Jesus. Since there are many still to be reached in the earth today, we need to repent, recalibrate, and gaze at Jesus as the Promise Keeper and not on ourselves so that the Great Commission can become the Great Completion.
Someone once asked Charles Surgeon if the unreached are saved if they don’t hear the gospel, he replied, “The bigger question is, are we saved if we don’t passionately desire to get the gospel to them?” In Revelation 7:9-10, John prophetically sees God’s promise to Abraham made good––redeemed and fulfilled as men and women from every nation, tribe, people and language praise God. As the Great Commission moves us to action, the Great Completion draws us into a great commitment to be God’s vessels for Him to complete the good work He has started. Following Jesus is the greatest adventure of all. The goodness of God’s grace propels people to the nations as they fulfill the great work God has called them to do. Philippians 1:6 says, “I am convinced and confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will [continue to] perfect and complete it until the day of Christ Jesus [the time of His return].” As we do our part and bring honor to His name, we will take off on the adventure of a lifetime.
The highest motive for evangelism should be to honor the name of Jesus Christ and give God glory. Evangelism should not be threatening unbelievers with death by eternal fire, but to introduce them to the One who offers eternal love and forgiveness. God is looking for willing vessels to use, not a certain age range. David Shibley says, “Age is not an issue, saying yes is the issue.” God is drawing many in this hour into His heart to reveal His plans for harvest season. He is raising up a new generation of mighty lighthouses that are supercharged with power from on high to reach the lost and go where no one wants to go. H. Richard Niebuhr said, “The great Christian revolutions come not by the discovery of something that was not known before. They happen when somebody takes radically something that was always there.” This next generation of soul winners understands this as they stand on the ceiling of the past evangelists that will propel them forward in these last days to bring glory to the name of the Lord in ways we have yet to see. Mark 2:22 says, “And no one puts new wine into old wineskins… But new wine is for fresh wineskins.” The new wine and wave of soul winners are emerging.
BRING GLORY TO HIS NAME
You will see that the end time harvest of souls will bring glory to the name of Jesus and never to man. Haggai 2:9 says that, “The glory of this present house will be greater than the glory of the former house.” His name shall be famous in all the land and the present wave of His Spirit will be much greater than the former to reach many in these last days. Although reaching the whole world for Christ seems like an impossible feat, Luke 1:37 says, “Nothing is impossible for God.” There is hope for a massive world harvest of souls and Jesus is His name. As we focus on Him and obey, He will draw others unto Himself. As we shine with the light of Jesus, people will be drawn to us and we will have the opportunity to tell them about the One we adore. As we burst with excitement about Jesus, we can’t help but shout it out for all the world to hear. The Happy Song by Chris Tomlin says, “My heart is bursting Lord, to tell of all You’ve done, of how You changed my life and wiped away the past. I wanna shout it out, from every rooftop sing, for now I know that God is for me, not against me!” Let us be a people, young and old, who can’t hide God’s love under a bush. 1 Timothy 4:12 says, “Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity.” It is vital that the fiery passion for Christ never be hidden, but shine bright like a light for others to flock to. Like the song This Little Light of Mine says, let us be a people so on fire for God that if we ever get hidden under a bush, silenced, or persecuted, that we will say, “No, we won’t let anyone blow it out!” May we be a people that if we ever find ourselves under a bush that the fire of His love through our commitment to follow Him in love, faith, and purity will consume and burn that bush to a crisp—setting captives free. The unsaved, broken, and lost won’t know what happened to them as they get so overtaken by the light of God’s love coming from the lovesick Jesus addicts. Thousands will be transformed just by walking past their shadow. This company of powerful soul winners are arising in this hour. I speak to those radical ones that are totally sold out and addicted to Jesus to come forth. Now is your time to rise in the power of the Lord.

PRAYER
Lord, drastically transform our thinking and expand our view to become more aware that the time to evangelize is so very short. Give us courage to step out in faith and boldness to take action. Stir up deep hunger within us to see the Great Commission fulfilled in the earth. Overtake us and brand us with Your seal of love. May we fall even more in love with You, Jesus, that we can’t help but share that love with others. Give us an even greater depth of revelation that the Great Commission is a highly addictive clarion call from Heaven, an overflowing love for You, a passion to see others know how amazing You are, and a rock solid promise that You will finish what You have started to bring glory to Your name. Help us to make Your name be famous in all the earth. Amen.

GROUP LESSON NOTES
GROUP ACTIVITY
“The Light Search”
ITEMS NEEDED:
- A small flashlight, candle, or object that lights up
DIRECTIONS:
The leader will ask everyone to close their eyes as they hide the light. The leader should hide the light within a short distance from the group or within the online audience’s view. Be sure to make it difficult to find. The leader will then call one person at a time by name and ask them to open their eyes. The leader will wait a few seconds and then tell the player that they can close their eyes once more. The first person the leader calls upon is the only player that will get to know the location of the light. The Leader will non-verbally communicate to this player to let them know not to say anything about the location of the light to the other players. The leader will then continue to call upon everyone in the group until everyone has had a chance to open their eyes. After everyone in the group has been called upon, the leader will then tell everyone to open their eyes. As the group opens their eyes, the leader will begin to offer clues to see if the players can find where the light is. For every right clue, the leader will also give a wrong clue to lead them away from the object. The goal is to make it difficult to find the light. Once the group is getting frustrated by all the wrong clues, offer them a clue that will allow them to find it.
GROUP DISCUSSION:
Leader:
How would you feel if I told you that one of you in this group knew where the light was hidden the whole time but didn’t tell you?” The first person to open their eyes was shown the truth and knew where the light was hidden, but they did not share the truth with the group. That is what it is like when we know the truth of the love of Jesus, but we do not share it with others. Instead of leading them in the right direction, we stay quiet and allow them to stay in the dark—wandering with no direction. John 14:6 says, “Jesus told him, ‘I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through Me.’” The only way you could find the light without me telling you where it was, was if the one person in the group that knew the truth spoke up and told you where the light was hidden. That is why we have to speak up and tell others the truth and point them to Jesus. We need to step out and evangelize to those around us as we lead them to The Light––Jesus.

ACTIVATION DISCUSSION
Review the three easy steps to evangelize below then split the group into pairs and have them practice witnessing to each other by leading them to Jesus.
3 EASY STEPS TO EVANGELIZE:
Step 1: Start a Conversation
Start a conversation with anyone in your everyday life. Try and incorporate your own testimony into a fluent conversation.
There are three steps to this:
A. Tell how you became a Christian
B. Tell why you became a Christian
C. Tell what has changed since you became a Christian
There are two questions you can ask in conversation to find out if they are saved:
1. If you were to die right now, where would you go?
2. If you were to die and come face-to-face with Jesus and He said, “Why should I let you into My Kingdom?” what would you say?
Step 2: Share the Gospel
Share the Gospel in a simple and easy to understand fashion.
There are four steps to this:
A. Why we need salvation: We have all sinned and the consequence of sin is spiritual death (separation from God).
Romans 3:23, “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.”
Romans 6:23, “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”
B. How God provides salvation: Jesus died to pay the price for our sin.
John 3:16, “For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.”
Romans 5:8, “God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”
C. How we can receive salvation: We must believe in Jesus and give our lives to Him.
Act 16:31, “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved”
Romans 10:9, “If you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.”
Romans 10:13, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”
D. What the results of salvation are: If we believe in Jesus, God will forgive our sins and give us eternal life.
Romans 5:1, “Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.”
Romans 8:1, “Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.”
Romans 8:38-39, “For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
Step 3: Lead Someone to Christ
There are three steps to this:
A. Ask Jesus to come into your heart (Accepting Him into your life)
B. Believe that He died and rose again (Understanding that He died for your sins)
C. Confess your sin and know you are forgiven (Putting the past behind, being washed clean, and committing the rest of your life to Him)
PERSONAL SELF-STUDY
