“...Some people soon brought to him a crippled man lying on a mat. When Jesus saw how much faith they had, he said to the crippled man, “My friend, don’t worry! Your sins are forgiven.”Some teachers of the Law of Moses said to themselves, “Jesus must think he is God!” But Jesus knew what was in their minds, and he said, “Why are you thinking such evil things? Is it easier for me to tell this crippled man that his sins are forgiven or to tell him to get up and walk? But I will show you that the Son of Man has the right to forgive sins here on earth.” So Jesus said to the man, “Get up! Pick up your mat and go on home.” The man got up and went home. When the crowds saw this, they were afraid and praised God for giving such authority to people.”
(Matthew 9:1-8 CEV)
In obedience, healing is found. The Lord spoke to the crippled man and said, “Get up! Take up your bed and walk.” He may not have been completely healed if he didn’t get up, if he had made excuses, or if he thought that there was no way he could do it because he was too weak or needed help. Instead, he was healed because he got up, took his own bed, and walked away.
As the Spirit of Faith arises, God allows the impossible to become possible. Too often, when God tells us to do something, we don’t do it. We have a lack of faith. We don’t “get up and walk.” We make excuses or think we can’t do it because we are too weak. We often blame the fact that we don’t have the resources, help, or support.
Many times, we have faith that God can do the impossible—heal the sick, raise the dead, and cast out demons. We believe that God can move mountains that are in our way. That is what I call the “Faith in God.” We have faith “in” God and know He can and will do the impossible in our lives.
I have asked these same people with this “Faith in God” mindset if they would go to Walmart with me, pray for a person in a wheelchair, and expect them to get up and walk. I have seen those “Faith in God” people turn into squirmy worms in a flash. I used to be the same exact way. No shame in the game, I get it!
That was me BEFORE I understood the difference between the “Faith in God” and the “Faith OF God.” Having faith in God and knowing that He will work in our situation or heal someone is different. That type of faith requires God to take action and not us. Faith IN God requires God to “get up and walk.” Faith OF God requires us to take action, get up, take our mat, and walk.
I think of it as putting on a superhero cape. When I feel the spirit of Faith come into the atmosphere, it is like a blanket of expectancy. The people it envelopes become instant superheroes. Nothing is stopping them from believing for the impossible. They know God will use THEM as the Holy Spirit consumes them. They become a shell of the old person they were while the spirit of Faith is on and around them.
That is when God can move! When we put Him on like a superhero cape, He can then do the impossible through us. It has zero to do with anything in our own power, so no need for pride to sink in—we just aren’t that powerful.
When we grasp that we have the same power living inside of us that raised Jesus from the dead, then absolutely nothing can stop us. When we contain the Faith OF the same God that created the Heavens and the earth, we are unstoppable. Him, one IN us, can be used to move the mountains that are in our way. Then, going to Walmart to pray for someone in a wheelchair doesn’t seem so scary. Because He is IN us.
As I grasped this revelation with everything in me, the Lord commissioned me to work as a door greeter at Walmart for a season. I saw more signs, wonders, and miracles at the front door of that store than I have in my whole life. One after the other passing by me got healed, delivered, and set free. People received inner healing as well as physical. I didn’t have to do a thing but stand at the front of that store and obey the Holy Spirit’s leading. God not only had me do what I once feared, He had me work there and practice this new found knowledge everyday. It worked!
I put on the “Faith of God” like a superhero cape in the version of a yellow Walmart vest everyday. I walked in with expectant excitement to see God show up and show out through my shell of a body. He did for me and He will use you, too. Just surrender and obey!
He is calling everyone to wake up and see His power. To grab hold of this revelation. You can walk in the “Faith OF God” everyday of your life. Put on the cape of faith and walk in His power. Surrender yourself to Him as a willing vessel for the Holy Spirit to flow through. Once you do that, watch Him do the impossible in and through you. With God, you can move those mountains...yes, YOU!
Prayer: May Faith wash over you like a blanket and cause your expectancy level to rise and soar. I speak boldness over you right now. You shall walk in His power with authority and not grow weary. As you put on the superhero cape of faith, and become puddy in the hands of the Holy Spirit—you shall see the “im” fall off the impossible and step into the possible. May you give yourself permission to watch God move mountains through you. Lord, use them as a pipe for You to flow through. Help them to give You complete control. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.
