As I sat in my prayer closet loving on the Lord, I heard in my mind the voice of my earthly father singing a song that he sang to me often as a child. As I heard his voice sing, I felt in my spirit the beckoning draw from my Heavenly Father to come up higher and to call on His name—the name above all names.
“Because of that obedience, God exalted Him and multiplied His greatness! He has now been given the greatest of all names! The authority of the name of Jesus causes every knee to bow in reverence! Everything and everyone will one day submit to this name—in the Heavenly realm, in the earthly realm, and in the demonic realm. And every tongue will proclaim in every language: 'Jesus Christ is Lord Yahweh,' bringing glory and honor to God, His Father!”
Philippians 2:9-11 TPT
As the words to the song rang through my mind I felt myself falling deeper into the arms of my King.
There is Something About That Name
by: Gloria and Willam J. Gaither
“Jesus, Jesus, Jesus; there's just something about that name.
Master, Savior, Jesus, like the fragrance after the rain;
Jesus, Jesus, Jesus, let all Heaven and earth proclaim.
Kings and kingdoms will all pass away,
But there's something about that name.
Kings and kingdoms will all pass away,
But there's something about that name.”
With every word, I sunk deeper into Him—like falling onto a soft pillow. His name! Jesus! There is such power in His name.
I love when I am out and about jogging, at the post office, the grocery store, or clearance shopping down the home decor isles at Ross and I pass someone talking about Jesus. I stop and listen. I try to get as close as I can without being stalkish to hear what they are talking about; to hear what they are saying about my Lord and King.
“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life.” John 3:16 ESV
I grew up knowing Jesus in a very intimate way. Jesus would come to me very often as a child and I grew up knowing Him as my best friend. So, when people talk about Him… I stop.
I love when people love Him! Something very amazing happens when two or more people come together and talk about Him—He shows up! Every single time.

“For wherever two or three come together in honor of My name, I am right there with them!” Matthew 18:20 TPT
In knowing this, when I hear people talk about Him, I want to be there. Wherever Jesus is, that is where I want to be. If He is there, I want to get as close as I can to Him. So, why wouldn’t I stop when His name is mentioned? There is power in His name.
“And so, when Jesus' name is called, the knees of everyone should fall, wherever they're residing.” Philippians 2:10 ISV
Due to my background in children’s ministry, I often give visual examples to help with understanding. The Holy Spirit showed me the movie The Santa Clause as a reference point to explain. If you haven’t seen the movie, the main character becomes Santa by putting on a suit after the real Santa Claus fell off the roof of his home. He then has to leave his family to live at the North Pole. His son, Charlie, didn’t want to leave his father’s side, so the head elf of the North Pole gave him a snow globe to shake anytime he wanted to see his father again. Every time Charlie shook the snow globe, his father appeared.
Even though the movie is not biblical or factual, this visual can help you understand how powerful the name of Jesus really is. You say His name and He appears. You don’t need an imaginary magic snow globe from the North Pole, you have His name—Jesus.
“And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under Heaven given among men by which we must be saved.” Acts 4:12 ESV
My favorite memories as a child was hearing my earthly father sing to me the name of Jesus. Every time he would sing I would feel myself fall more madly in love with my Heavenly Father. It made all my worry, fears, and bad dreams fall away as he pointed me to the only thing that matters—Jesus.
"For 'everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.'"
Romans 10:13 ESV

We are living in uncertain times and many have worry, fears, and maybe some broken or crushed dreams. But, as the song says, we too must remember that when kings and kingdoms all pass away, there is still something about His name.
We may be watching first hand the kings and kingdoms of this world pass slowly away, but look up and see that everything you need is found in Jesus. His Kingdom is eternal and His name is powerful. There is extraordinary power in His name, and when you call Him, He will answer.
“Call to Me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.” Jeremiah 33:3 NIV
When you talk about Jesus, He is there. There is something super duper, extra special about His name. I encourage you, when you feel as if you have been slimed by the ick of this world and when you are tempted to worry or fear, call out the name of Jesus and let Him hold you, wash you, and make you new. You are safe in His arms.
“And I will do whatever you ask in My name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. You may ask Me for anything in My name, and I will do it.”
John 14:13-14 NIV
Jesus is the name above all names and has the power to change everything around you. When you feel lost or alone, call out His name. When you are worried or afraid, call out His name. When you feel sick or weak, call out His name. When you are happy and at rest, still call out His name. He is with you always and is only a call away. Whisper His name, shout His name, think about His name and He is standing next to you—He is that close. His name is powerful, the name above all names—Jesus.

“For here is eternal truth: When that time comes you won’t need to ask Me for anything, but instead you will go directly to the Father and ask Him for anything you desire and He will give it to you, because of your relationship with Me. Until now you’ve not been bold enough to ask the Father for a single thing in My name, but now you can ask, and keep on asking Him! And you can be sure that you’ll receive what you ask for, and your joy will have no limits!” John 16:23-24 TPT
