Paper Love

Love is such a powerful four-letter word that contains many meanings inside its context. Expressing love in its many forms is the way God designed us to communicate with Him and others. When love is absent, in one aspect or another, it leaves a void in our soul. Love is an action word that requires work. When someone is void of showing love, it affects those around them. God called us to love one another. Showing love is a command, not a request.

“Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth.” 1 John 3:18 NIV

“The beautiful message you’ve heard right from the start is that we should walk in self-sacrificing love toward one another.” 1 John 3:11 TPT

When love is only written on paper and not spoken or shown the way God created, the soul is grieved and the mind has difficulties processing this lack of actionleaving you confused. Paper love is erasable–fragile. It easily tears when tested, falls apart over time, and even burns when things get hot. We must give and receive love that is more than just ink on paper with no action. Jesus’ love for us is more than just paper. His passion is written and sealed through His action–the blood on the cross. He knows what you are walking through and is your victory over the enemy. In Him, you have freedom. What are you fighting for in your life? Go to war and fight for more than just a paper love. Let the Lord’s love wash over you, allowing you to see yourself worthy of true love. Allow His love to break the chains that bind and set you free to walk in victory.

“But God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” Romans 5:8 ESV

As my children and I were walking through a difficult time in our life, the Lord spoke through a dear friend of ours as he wrote a prophetic song for our family. Jesus began to heal us from a life of only receiving a “paper kind of love” as the words to the song sunk into our soul. May these words wash over you today:

Paper Love

By: Issac Davis, Genesis Worship

We’re bout to go to war

Do you know what you’re fighting for

We’re bout to go to war

Do you know what you’re fighting for

We’re bout to go to war

Do you know what you’re fighting for

Well, the angels are comin’ down

Oh do you hear that sound

The angels are comin’ down

Oh do you hear that sound

This ain’t a paper love

No

This ain’t a paper love

This ain’t a paper love

No

This ain’t a paper love

There is freedom over the enemy

Nothings going to stop me

Holy Ghost victory

There is freedom over the enemy

Nothings going to stop me

Holy Ghost victory

We’re bout to go to war

Do you know what you’re fighting for

We’re bout to go to war

Do you know what you’re fighting for

We’re bout to go to war

Do you know what you’re fighting for

The angels are comin’ down

Marching right through this town

The angels are comin’ down

Marching right through this town

This ain’t a paper love

No

This ain’t a paper love

This ain’t a paper love

No

This ain’t a paper love

There is freedom over the enemy

Nothings going to stop me

Holy Ghost victory

There is freedom over the enemy

Nothings going to stop me

Holy Ghost victory

“Above all, have fervent and unfailing love for one another, because love covers a multitude of sins [it overlooks unkindness and unselfishly seeks the best for others].” 1 Peter 4:8 AMP

No matter what you are fighting for, I declare freedom. Angels sent to assist and march through your town, situation, or battle. I speak freedom over a victim mentality–allowing Jesus to make you a victor. His love is not a paper kind of love. He loved you so much that He died for you. You, my friend, are lavishly loved, adored, and cherished by the King of the world. His love is all you need!

Prayer: Jesus, wash over me with Your actions and words of love right now. May the weight of Your sacrifice sink into the fibers of my being, setting the captives free. Break the chains of lack of earthly love and an orphan spirit off of me right now, so I may see forever in Your eyes. I am loved and adopted by You, God. You are all I need. Amen.

“If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. And if I have prophetic powers, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. If I give away all I have, and if I deliver up my body to be burned, but have not love, I gain nothing. Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never ends. As for prophecies, they will pass away; as for tongues, they will cease; as for knowledge, it will pass away.” I Corinthians 13:1-8 ESV
