You Can Run, But You Can't Hide

Our Lord desires a Bride without spot or wrinkle. We need to be like glass, transparent in all our ways. But, the Bride as it is right now is not complete. We are holding onto things that we should release; hidden sin. Hidden sins are the things in our life we know are wrong, don't want to give up, or don't want anyone to know about. If we are to be the Bride of Christ that He has called us to be, we must iron out the spots and wrinkles in our lives, and spray Windex on our souls so we can be free.
I was reading a devotion to my children today about secret sins. It hit me in such a profound way that no matter where I go, what I do, or what my thoughts are, He knows it all. I can’t hide from Him. We can run, but we can’t hide!
We can try to pretend to have it all together on the outside, but God sees the mess we really are on the inside. I’m not sure why we try to hide from God. There is no point to that game. He knows everything about us and still loves us.
When we try to hide our sins, it only hurts us more. It’s like a really bad sore that you don’t ever clean with antiseptic. It’s a sore that never heals. You may put a bandaid on it and pretend you're ok, but the sore is still there hiding under the bandaid.
Hurts and disappointments that life brings our way can become infected with anger and bitterness. They develop into sores that ooze and puss. If left untreated, secret sins can become a full on epidemic controlling your every thought.
Are you holding onto untreated hurts or disappointment? Are you walking around with a bandaid covering up your open wounds? Are you trying to hide something from God? Have you ever played hide and seek with a child, but you can plainly see where they are hiding? Do we just shout out “I found you! Game over” or do we allow them time to hide before we reveal that we really know where they're hiding?
Just like the game hide and seek, we may try to HIDE things from God. But, when we figure out that we can’t hide from Him, then we can begin to SEEK him.
”You will seek Me and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart.”
(Jeremiah 29:13)
Invite Him into your life and ask Him to heal your wounds and broken hearts. He will forgive your secret sins if you ask and will give you strength to turn from them. As you spend time with Him, His love and presence will chase the hurts away and give you strength to stay on the right path.
Run after Him and SEEK Him and you will FIND Him. Anything you need, big or small, He is there to help. God’s love drives out worry and fear. He knows your every thought and deepest desire. Ask and you will receive what you need today.
“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.“
(Matthew 7:7)
“There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.“
(1 John 4:18)
God is a loving Father, not a mean ruler. You are safe in His loving arms. Rest in God’s perfect peace, knowing that no matter what you are facing, He is always there with you. You can’t hide from Him. He loves you and will never ever let you down.
