You're Not Crazy

“For we walk by faith, not by sight.” 2 Corinthians 5:7

Does your destiny feel bigger than life? Has God put desires in your heart that seem impossible? Do you feel crazy for thinking you could possibly do something so influential, inventive, massive, and cutting edge for the Lord? Has He called you where few have ever gone before? Do you feel like no one understands? When you tell people what God has called you to do, do they look at you like you’ve lost your mind? Are you beginning to question if you've lost your marbles for believing God has called you to do something so wildly amazing for Him?

“‘For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the LORD, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.’” Jeremiah 29:11

God's plans are extravagant, bigger than this life, grander than our natural minds can comprehend. God’s destiny for our lives is impossible in man’s terms. No matter how large and weighty the call on our life feels, it’s extremely vital that we step into our supernatural destinies so we can be used during these end times. How can we become confident that we heard God correctly about His crazy, wild, impossibly amazing call on our life and begin to walk in our God given destiny? How do we know His plan is real and that we aren't crazy?

“Perhaps you were born for such a time as this.” Esther 4:14

Through life experience and many years working with people in ministry, I have learned that God will always ask us to do something that doesn’t make sense in our natural mind. I have discovered that if I couldn’t or wouldn’t dream it up, then it’s probably God and not my own understanding. If it’s bigger than I would dream, it’s not me. If what He has told me I would do pushes me out of my insecurities to bring Him glory, then it’s God. If it takes a lot of work and requires great sacrifice, then it’s usually Him. If I have to cut away things, thoughts, habits, people, and places in my life to go where He is telling me to go, then I heard correctly. If the liar is attacking by telling me that I’m not worthy enough to go where God is telling me to go, then I’m probably heading in the right direction. If what I’ve been called to do stretches me and seems scary (like walking on an invisible bridge or jumping off a massive cliff), then it is most likely time for me to jump. If deep down in my spirit I know that I am not making it up, then it’s God. If it will make Jesus famous and not me, then hands down, it’s God! It may seem outrageously impossible, but it is God.

“And Jesus answered them, ‘Have faith in God.’” Mark 11:22

“Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight.”

Proverbs 3:5-6

If you are feeling this way, you are not crazy. It’s just time to rise. It’s time to walk in your destiny. It’s time to stop second guessing, jump in faith, and obey. Act in immediate obedience as you allow the Lord to guide your steps through what feels insanely impossible and maybe a bit scary. God is the God of the impossible. He always has plans that feel beyond our capacity to achieve. The supernatural realm never makes sense in the natural.

When God reveals His will for your life, you’re actually seeing beyond the natural into the supernatural. Naturally you are not qualified, but by faith, you have everything you need. He takes our weakness to show His greatness. If you think you can do it on your own, then you can’t. But if you think you can’t, then He can do it through you. We must choose to believe what God says and not live by the flesh, but by the spirit. He is raising up an end time company that will depend and trust in Him alone. We must bow our will to His will. Now is the time to rise, silence the voices, and walk in destiny by the power of the Holy Spirit.

“The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.” Matthew 26:14

All through scripture, we find the Lord appointing unqualified people to do impossibly extravagant things for Him. I'm sure they doubted and felt crazy at times. Through their surrender, they believed in the impossible as their faith arose and strengthened. As faith blossoms in us, mountains will move and God can have His way. God’s extravagant plans for our lives may make us feel inadequately equipped and cause us to think that someone else is a better fit for the job. By leaning on our own understanding or believing the enemy’s lies, we might feel that there is no way we can do what He has called us to do. We may even ask, “Why me?” It is important to believe that what He said is true and trust that with Him, we can accomplish what He has called forth. We just need a little belief that we can, because He said we can.

“Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.” Hebrews 11:1

“For nothing will be impossible with God.” Luke 1:37

The Bible says in Mark 17:20, that if we have faith (which means to believe; not feeling crazy) the size of a mustard seed, then we can speak and move mountains. A mustard seed is tiny––itty-bitty. In the Heavenly realm, it doesn’t take much to believe in the possibility of God’s grand plans for it to become a reality. But, we must speak and believe that we aren’t crazy. Believe that we are in fact the ones He is calling forth to do a great work for Him and not someone else. What He appoints, He provides for as faith is walked out by action. Any obstacle in our way will disappear as we move forward, stepping into the belief through truth, that nothing is impossible with God by your side.

“He said to them, ‘Because of your little faith. For truly, I say to you, if you have faith like a grain of mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there,' and it will move, and nothing will be impossible for you.’” Mark 17:20

“That your faith might not rest in the wisdom of men but in the power of God.” 1 Corinthians 2:5

When God calls us to do something, it will always be way more than we think we can handle. Believing in the unseen feels crazy and requires faith. Through the eye of faith, we have the capacity to see that we are qualified, that it is already decided in Heaven, and that His will is more real than anything this world has to offer. His will for our life is already sealed, finished and done in the earth as it was written in Heaven. If we can see God’s will for our life by the Spirit, then we can receive it. By the Spirit inside us, we can see the dreams God has placed into our heart. By faith in God, we can pull the supernatural dreams into the natural realm.

“‘However not My will but Your will must be done.” Luke 22:42

“And Jesus said to him, ‘If you can’! All things are possible for one who believes.’” Mark 9:23

As faith blooms through obedience, we can set sail toward the plans God has for us. As we believe and obey, then we can move into the receiving stage. Oftentimes, when we have faith and finally believe we aren't crazy, knowing it is actually God and not made up, then we proceed to the action stage and plan to move forward in our destiny. As we jump and take the leap, we can sometimes find ourselves slowly floating and feeling like we are going nowhere. This is when many want to give up or sink into hope deferred. We often start out with guns ablaze toward God’s call, but can be surprised when God doesn’t work within our self-made timetables. Our time is not always God’s best time. Our self-made timeline can often be created by selfish desires and not God’s. Through our limited understanding and small boxes we try to fit God in, disappointment of unmet expectations tries to steal our joy. Some call this difficult part of the process “the waiting,” “the gap,” “standing in the hallway,” but I personally think it feels like floating.

“The Lord is not slow in keeping His promise, as some understand slowness. Instead He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.” 2 Peter 3:9

To me, it’s like being suspended in time or floating on a raft in the middle of the ocean with no paddles to help me get there quicker. All I can do is float… and float… and float as I suspend in God’s timeline. Oftentimes as we wait, we can see the shore line of promise within arms distance, but we can’t seem to grasp it and put our feet in the sand. The floating can get frustrating and many want to give up or take a path that is second best at this stage. But we can’t give up, even if we feel seasick from the crashing waves of doubt. We can’t give up when thoughts of doubt swarm around like sharks waiting for us to fall off and eat our destinies for breakfast. We must not get on the crazy train of disbelief that takes us further away from the shore, but hop aboard the train that leads us to our destiny and ride the waves with Jesus. All good things are worth the wait.

“But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed by the wind.” James 1:6

“I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with My eye upon you.” Psalm 32:8

Remember that the safest place to be as we float, waiting for God’s plans to come to pass, is at the feet of Jesus. As we wait upon the Lord in surrender to Him, trust, renewal, and refreshing is found. In good times and in bad, through life’s journeys and curve balls, the roads should always lead us desiring to lay or “float” at His feet. As we wait and pour our perfume of faith, patience, and devotion on His feet, impossible things become possible. As we trust God more and more, we find strength we never dreamed we could have. In the waiting, floating in His timeline, is where we grow and become more like Him. Prayer, spending time alone with God, fasting, agreeing with like minded people, and pounding the gates of Heaven can all lead to quicker results in destiny. But, sometimes we just have to rest at His feet and simply trust. The faith of trust in the One who saves is what makes us qualified for our destiny. It’s the process that strengthens us to help us endure till the end.

“And without faith it is impossible to please Him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that He exists and that He rewards those who seek Him.”

Hebrews 11:6

I encourage you not to give up, replace your thoughts with His will, and breakthrough into your destiny. If you're in the waiting, have faith and trust that God will do what He said He will do in and through you. You may feel a bit nutty, but you aren’t crazy, my friend. As you keep your thoughts on Jesus, your mind, will, and emotions will steady as you continue to seek His face. He hand picked you to fulfill a great work for His Kingdom—you are called, chosen, worthy, and strong. Just jump, knowing you have all you need inside you to do whatever He tells you to do. Trust that you will arrive at the right place at the right time. Trust God’s plan.

“And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to His purpose.” Romans 8:28

“The plans of the LORD stand firm forever, the purposes of His heart through all generations.” Psalm 33:11

“And Jesus answered them, ‘Have faith in God. Truly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, 'Be taken up and thrown into the sea,' and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says will come to pass, it will be done for him. Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.’” Mark 11:22-24
